Setting the airflow in practice

The method takes three steps. Close the slider almost fully first, without ever sealing it completely, since a fully closed passage encourages flooding and traps heat.

Open it a notch at a time, taking a slow draw after each adjustment. The right setting is the one where the pull no longer takes effort while the vapour stays warm and full of flavour. On this device it usually falls within the first third of the slider’s travel.
